Death
Mr. Robert E. Lee (Bob) Furr of Route 3, Douglasville passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 1966 at Paulding Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was 78 years old. A native of Paulding County, he was born on September 19, 1887, a son of the late Lon Furr and Lizzie McGuire Furr. His wife, Mrs. Florence Furr, passed away in 1962. Mr. Furr was a retired farmer and a member of the Star of Bethlehem Baptist Church. He is survived by a son, Mr. Clifford Furr, of Douglasville; two daughters, Mrs. Dunk Cohran and Mrs. Parks Brown, both of Douglasville; three brothers, Messrs. George Furr, Grady Furr and Rader Furr, of Powder Springs; two sisters, Mrs. Etta Marchman and Mrs. Pearl Matthews, of Villa Rica; three half- brothers, Mr. Ralph Furr, Mr. Roy Furr, both of Marietta and Mr. Ernest Furr, of Jacksonville, Fla.; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ernest Wallace, of East Point, Mrs. Bessie Hansard, of Lithia Springs and Mrs. Leon Reece, of Powder Springs. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were held at the Star of Bethlehem Church on Monday afternoon, Feb. 21, at 1:00. The Rev. Hugh Parson and the Rev. Chester Fuller officiated and burial as in the church cemetery. Grandsons of the deceased served as active pall bearers. Martin Funeral Home had charge of arrangements.Endnotes
