Benjamin Franklin MORROW
(25 Jan 1847 - 11 Jul 1923)
As written by Otto Morrow, grandson of Benjamin, in a letter to G. Gerald his son: My great grandfather Morrow came to the United States from Ireland-and I don't know what part of Ireland. However, he settled on a farm somewhere near St. Joseph Missouri. He had three son's after he arrived in this country. The yougest of the three was my grandfather. I don't know anything about the other two. When the Civil War started, Missouri was divided. Grandfather went with the south. At the age of 14 he joined the Confederate Army. He was in the cavalry with the James Boys, The Younger Bros., The Cantrell's and many others. He (grandfather) was not an outlaw. He knew them only while they were in the army. I don't know where my grandfather and grandmother met. They had four son's. Uncle Henry, the oldest- Uncle Charley the second- my father the third- Uncle Grady the youngest. I am pretty sure my father was born in Arkansas.. Where the other three was born I don't know. NOTE: Cantrell=Quintrell? The James and the Youngers did ride with the Quantrill during the war. SEE Info on- Co.A, 7th Arkansas Cavalry, Hill's Regiment (in file). NOTE: 1880 census shows Benjamin's father from TN and lists his children's names... they match Otto's recollections NOTE:1860 census shows Benjamin's mother from MO and father from TN. NOTE:birth place on Benjamin listed on 1850 census Van Buren Co, AR as AR. Ben listed as 3 mos. old, therefore assumed he was born in Van Buren Co.
