Death
Robert Henry "Bob" Campassi Sr., age 87, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa AL. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Thursday, December 23, 2010 at 12:00 noon at Annunciation Catholic Church with Father Robert Dore and Father Gerard Hurley officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Friendship Cemetery in Columbus. Visitation will be held at Annunciation Catholic Church Thursday, December 23, 2010 from 10:00 AM until service time. Mr. Campassi was born on Sunday, February 04, 1923 in Clarksdale, MS to the late Pete and Rosa Serio Campassi. He was a communicant of Annunciation Catholic Church, and a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran, having attained the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He was a former member of the American Legion and the Nurseryman's Association. He was a Landscaper and formally worked for the City of Columbus in that capacity. He was the retired owner and operator of the Gazebo Garden Center. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers Pete Jr. and Charles Campassi. Survivors include one daughter Patricia Russell (Jackie), Clarksdale, MS; four sons: Robert Campassi, Jr. , Plant City, FL; Robin Campassi (Helen), Columbus, MS; Cary Campassi, Columbus, MS and Mark Campassi (Carmen), Hamilton, AL; one sister Rosemary Merriman (Ed), Grenada, MS; and one brother Sam Campassi (Nancy), Houston, TX. He is also survived by eight grandchildren Claire Campassi, Conner Campassi, Matthew Campassi Christopher Campassi, Marcela Campassi, Austin Campassi, Robert Bryan Weems and April DaCosta. The Pallbearers will be U.S. Air Force Honor Guard. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Winford Dailey, Billy James, Billy Keel, George Irby, Jeffry Rupp, Frank Goodman, Dr. Andrew Johnson, Dr. Brad Brown, Dr. James Woodard, Staff of Baptist Memorial Critical Care Unit, Staff of Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle, and Staff of Trinity Heath and Personal Care.Published by Memorial Funeral Home December 21, 2010
