Death
The Charlotte News (Charlotte, North Carolina) 13 Oct 1943, Wed - Page 6CONCORD - Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Foil-Powles Funeral home in Mt. Pleasant for A. E. Harkey, 76, who died Monday afternoon in Morganton. The rites were conducted by the Rev. A. W. Hedrick, pastor of Bear Creek Reformed Church of which Mr. Harkey was a member. Burial was made in the Furr Cemetery. Mr. Harkey, a native of Stanly County, was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Caleb Harkey, and was born July 27, 1867. His wife, the former Miss Hattie Furr, died in 1912. Mr. Harkey's only surviving near relative is his daughter, Miss Mary Harkey of Mt. Pleasant.
