Death
MATTHEWS, N.C. - Virginia Farmer Furr, 90, of Albemarle, N.C, formerly of Edson Terrace, Hampton, Va., died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2006 at Presbyterian Hospital, Matthews, N.C. Virginia was employed by Peoples Drugs in Hampton, retiring in 1980 and was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, Albermarle. Born in Anson County, N.C., Virginia was the daughter of William Henry Farmer and Mary Addie Haywood. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Furr, who died in 1989; a daughter, Barbara Marks in 2001 and a granddaughter, Alison Jones in 2005. Virginia is survived by her two sons, Roy Eugene “Gene” Furr of Albemarle and Commander Mitchell “Mickey” Furr of St. Mary’s City, Md.; two daughters, Karen Taylor of Mint Hill, N.C. and Cathy Gary of Radcliff, Ky.; 16 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Jon Hoey and the Rev. Brian Gary, Virginia’s son-in-law, at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Dec.5 at the Stanly Funeral Home, Albermarle, N.C.Daily Press, Newport News, Virginia, December 5, 2006
