Floy Marie FURR

FLOY MARIE FURR was a native of Dover in Pope County, Arkansas. She was
born. July 2, 1911 the daughter of Martin and Kathryn Reynolds Furr. She attended school in Pope County and is a housewife in 1968. She has one sister, Allie Furr Edwards, and two brothers, Gordon and Bill Furr. When very young she knew of the Person family through her Uncles Levi and Ira Furr families who lived neighbors with the Persons on White Oak mountain. She and James Person married June 25, 1934. They lived in Carden Bottom all their married life. No issue, but they reared a niece, Carol Jean Person. Floy's father Mart was killed by lightning when she was a child. Her mother lived with her and James the last few years of her life. She died November 11, 1949. Her parents are buried in a cemetery between Russellville and Dover a short distance off Highway #7. Floy and James joined the Order of the Eastern Star April 23, 1953 as charter members of Council Oaks Chapter #589. They joined the Methodist Church on Easter Sunday, April 10, 1955 at the First Methodist Church in Dardanelle, Arkansas. She was installed as Worthy Grand Matron of Council Oaks Chapter #589 on December 9, 1957. Her husband, James Person, served as her Worthy Patron.
