ALBEMARLE — Paul Bryce Staton, 79, 319 Palmer St., died Thursday (Jan. 20, 2000) at Stanly Memorial Hospital. Born Oct. 26, 1920, in Stanly County, Mr. Staton was a son of the late Clarence Lawrence and Idell Furr Staton. He had worked as a dye house hand at Wiscassett Mills. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in the Phillipines during World War II. Survivors include daughters Patricia Ann Holt and Rebecca Furr, both of Albemarle; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Graveside services were to be held at 11 this morning at Stanly Gardens of Memory. The Rev. Howard Benoy was to officiate. The family will be at the home of daughter Rebecca Furr, 29963 Chip Road.
