Death
LOCUST -- Cecil Ray Almond, 62, 24935 Millingport Road, died Saturday (June 15, 2002) at Mercy Hospital, Charlotte. Born April 10, 1940, in China Grove, Mr. Almond was a son of Bessie Furr Almond, Mount Pleasant, and the late Lloyd Pierson Almond. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. An electrician with Alcoa, Badin, he was a member of Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Survivors, in addition to his mother, include wife Betty Jane Whitley Almond; son Gregory DeWayne Almond,Locust; daughter Jacqueline Almond Poplin, Albemarle; brother Vance Almond, Mount Pleasant; sisters Hilda Ritchie, Locust, and Vickie Harris, Mount Pleasant; and three grandsons. Services: 2 p.m. Tuesday, Bear Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Albemarle, conducted by Elder Rommie Williams and Elder Ricky Harcrow. Burial, church cemetery. Military rites by Albemarle-Stanly County DAV. Visitation: 6-8 tonight, Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle. At other times, the family will be at the home on Millingport Road.
