Death
ALBEMARLE — Vera Elaine Almond Furr, 57, 30562 Lowell Road, died Wednesday (Jan. 3, 1996) at Duke Medical Center, Durham. Born Nov. 9, 1938, in Stanly County, Mrs. Furr was a daughter of Luther Edward and Lois Almond Almond, Albemarle. An accountant, she retired from Southern Bell, Charlotte, after 34 years. She later worked part time at First Union Bank. She was a member of Plyler Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school. Survivors, in addition to her parents, include husband Kenneth H. “Ken” Furr; son Darrell K. Furr, Albemarle; daughter Pamela Furr Honeycutt, Albemarle; and four grandchildren. Services: 2 p.m. Saturday, Plyler Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Max Vanderburg, pastor, and the Rev. Marvin Honeycutt. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery. Visitation: 7-9 p.m. Friday, Hartsell Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the home on Lowell Road.
