Death
Funeral services for Mr. Leonard S. Houck Sr., 79, were held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 24, 1999, from the Ott & Lee Chapel in Brandon. Rev. Howard Tucker officiated. Interment was made in the Richland Cemetery, Richland. Mr. Houck passed away on Saturday, May 22, at his residence, following an extended illness. He was a native of Michigan and had lived in Rankin County since 1944. He had been a member of Richland United Methodist Church since 1950 and was a World War II Army veteran serving as Staff. Sgt. He had been employed by V.A. Hospital for 33 years as assistant chief of accounting. Survivors include his daughter, Wanda H. Jones of Richland; son, Leonard S. (Skip) Houck Jr. of Richland; brothers, Melvin and Watson Houck of Michigan; grandchildren, Heather Smith of Richland, Amy Matthew of Virginia Beach, VA, Jason Jones of Richland and Trey Houck of Memphis; great grandchild, Selby Smith of Richland. Mr. Houck was preceded in death by his wife, Grace Houck in 1998. Pallbearers were Jason Jones, Trey Houck, Jerry Smith, Harry Diffrient and Charles Reed. Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon was in charge of arrangements.The Rankin County News, 05-26-1999
