Death
Funeral Services for Dr. James L. Schrock , age 86 of Picayune, MS, who passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2013, will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 12:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Picayune. Visitation will be Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm at First Baptist Church of Picayune. Burial will be in New Palestine Cemetery under the direction of McDonald Funeral Home. Dr. Keith Warden will officiate the service. A native of Goodman, MS, Dr. James L. Schrock graduated from Picayune High School and served in the US Navy in WWII on the Destroyer DD780, USS Stormes. His ship saw action in the Pacific. The ship was heavily damaged by Kamikaze a plane off Okinawa. He lost 21 shipmates. Dr. Schrock attended Tulane University for Pre-Dental and Washington University School of Dentistry in St. Louis, MO. He practiced dentistry in Picayune for 38 years. A member of First Baptist Church of Picayune, Dr. Schrock served on many committees. He was a member of the R.R. Watts Sunday School Class. He was a member of The American Dental Association, Missippi Dental Association, and The Academy of General Denistry. In May 2005 he was inducted into MS Lions Club International Hall of Fame. It is quite an honor, and he was justly proud. Dr. Schrock served on the All State Lions Band Committee, and this was one of his most rewarding experiences. He was so proud of the Ms Lions All State Band and their outstanding service. Dr. Schrock was a member of the Joppa Temple, Masonic Lodge #111, and the Shriners. He served as President of the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Library, and was also currently on the Board of the Pearl River County Library System. Dr. Schrock was on the Board of the Senior Center of South Pearl River County. Dr. Schrock and his wife of 64 years, Charleen, were very close and he loved her very much. He often said that without her love and support he would not have accomplished anything. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal Maurice Schrock and Sallie Mae Hunter Schrock; and his brother Maurice Hunter Schrock. Survivors include his wife, Charleen Furr Schrock; his sons, Dr. Kurt Schrock and wife Cindy, and Dr. Hal Mark Schrock and Pam; 4 grandchildren, Dr. Benjamin Leon Schrock and wife Erica, Kevin Ross Schrock, Daryl Brent Schrock, and Kristen Michelle Schrock; 1 great grandson, Parker Reed Schrock; and his sisters, Marcia Schrock and Gaye Schrock Phillips and husband Robert.
