Death
Patrick Millard Westbrook, 71, died September 8, 2022, after a valiant struggle with cancer. He was born December 18, 1950, in Mobile, Alabama to William Bradley and Etta Furr Westbrook. Pat was married to Carol Davis Westbrook, his high school sweetheart, for 49 years. They moved from Mobile to Birmingham, to attend school at Samford University. Pat began working at United Parcel Service during the summer of 1974 and continued for 40 years. He began in part time management, moved to package delivery, and ended his career as an over the road feeder driver. He loved driving and achieved 35 years of safe driving. Pat loved to travel, was an avid NASCAR fan, loved helping others as a “fix-it” man. This past year Pat celebrated 50 years in Freemasonry. He was a member of Bluff Park Lodge #856, where he served many offices, including Past Master. He was a faithful member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church for 19 years and was previously a member at Trinity UMC in Homewood. Pat is survived by his wife, Carol – son Brian (Kara) and son Paul (Stacy) – grandchildren Seth Baygents (Hannah Beth), Sam Baygents (Alexz), Sarah Westbrook, Patrick Westbrook, Will Westbrook - Great-grandchildren Emerson Baygents and Birdie Baygents – his sister, Janice Godfrey (Larry), brother, Doug Westbrook (Mary) and mother-in-law, Elizabeth Davis. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, September 10 at 2:00pm at Bluff Park United Methodist Church. Visitation will begin at 1:00. Rev. Kevin Payne and Rev. Mike Holly officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to: Bluff Park UMC Under the Bridge (Feeding the Homeless) or Bluff Park UMC Trustee’s Fund.Endnotes
