Miscellaneous
During the night of 13 July 1877, the steamboat City of Troy, piloted by Edward, collided with a barge towed by tugboat. The barge sank and Edward’s pilot license was revoked in the initial review by the local inspectors. However, the supervising inspector, located in New York City, restored the license based on his finding that the tug and the barge were not displaying proper lights.Endnotes
