Held rank of Lieutenant and later Captain (1691) in town militia. He rem. to Bristol, R. I., about 1685 but returned to the Vineyard 1689­91 where he d. 25 Aug. 1726. "He was a peaceable man and well inclined and of good understanding," wrote Parson Homes. His will dated 8 July 1726 was pro. Oct. 1726.
