Notes
Birth
John O'Leary reported 6 May 2005 that the 1880 census lists Lewis Knoll's birthplace - and that of both of his parents - as Wurtumburg, Germany. An unknown family source indicated his birthplace as Stuttgart.
Immigration
In "Wurtemberg, Germany Emigration Index," there is recorded the following:"Lewis Knoll, 9 yo, originally from Germany, departed from Havre aboard [the ship] Splendid, arrived New York 4 Apr 1848." Since there is no evidence that this child was traveling with an adult, the age is questionable. If his age were 19 instead of 9, this could be the immigration record of this ancestor.
Residence (family)
John O'Leary indicated, in research done in October 1973, that they had also lived in Line Lexington and Mt. Pleasant PA, dates unknown.Military
American Civil War Soldiers' Record indicates he received "Distinguished Service Award."Endnotes
