Tennessee Cousins by Hayes has this to say:
Fletcher Sullivan died near Gladeville on 20 Nov 1817. His age was not given, but his wife, Mary, was born in 1750 and died in 1822. Archibald Sherrill, born 1786, obtained a license to marry Fletcher's daughter, Sally Sullivan. Nowhere have we been able to discover where this marriage took place, or even if it did.
Archibald Sherrill was first buried on the old Shorter Place, near Gladeville, Tennessee, but about 1957 one of his grandsons, Edgar Bomar Sherrill, had his remains removed from that abandoned cemetery (His tombstone was the only one left standing) to the Sherrill Family cemetery at Gladeville, Tennessee.
The man who removed his remains said that only his skull with all teeth in perfect condition and his leg bone below the knee were all that was left. He also said that Archibald must have been 6 feet 4-7 inches tall, judging by that leg bone, since he, himself, was a few inches over 6 feet and the leg bone was a couple of inches longer than his own. He also said that Archibald's skull was massive but well formed.
Dr. Hugh N. Sherrill described his father as follows: "My father was about 6 feet high, erect, square built, smooth features and fair skin, a man of decided convictions, careful on taking a stand on any subject, but once settled he remained firm. I think as perfect a type of true nobleman as the world ever produced."
The tract of land upon which was built the home of Archibald Sherrill was first patented to General Andrew Jackson on March 7, 1796, by the State of North Carolina and by him was sold to Archibald Sherrill, 22 September 1815 and was later owned by Samuel Wilson Sherrill, Archibald's oldest son.
The information regarding the land is by Jane Katherine Sherrill Armijo and is dated September 8, 1966.
It is on this property that Samuel Wilson Sherrill, established his family cemetery, Title to this family cemetery remains in the hands of the members of the Sherrill family who are descendants of Archibald Sherrill. It is here that, Samuel Wilson Sherrill III, and his father Archibald Sherrill are buried. This property is located near Gladeville, TN. Archibald's monument in the Sherrill Cemetery at Gladeville, TN reads as follow:
