James Wadsworth Colley

J. W. Colley, who has been ill for some time past, died at his home in Perry, Saturday morning, May 4, 1918. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the M. E. Church, Rev. L. B. Pruitt conducting the service at the church and Kaw Council No. 154, Fraternal Aid Union conducting the burial service at the grave at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
James Wadsworth Colley was born October 15, 1852 in Logan County, Kentucky and at the time of his death, 65 years, 6 months and 19 days old.
Mr. Colley's parents moved to Nashville, Tennessee when Mr. Colley was an infant. His early life was spent in Nashville and at the age of 16 years, he left Nashville and located in Wyandotte County, Kansas. Mr. Colley spent a number of years in Wyandotte County and was married to Mary B. Grinter, Jan 28, 1880.
Three children were born to this union, Maude and Claude, who died in infancy and are buried at Grinter's Chapel near Muncie, and Linnie M. who is now, Mrs. V. C. Raines.
Mr. Colley, with his family lived for a time in Johnson County, Kansas near Merriam, and left there about 29 years ago and resided in Perry from that time until the time of his death.
So passes one of the old time and well known residents of Perry.
