George Fredrick, 76, died Monday, April 29, 1991, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Sunday morning, May 31, 1914, to Fred N. Hays and Adda Laura Seger Hays in Van Buren, Arkansas. He attended school there, receiving a commendation for 8 years of attendance without a single day missed. He also attended C.M.T.C. Military Camp in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas before joining Roscoe Hays Trucking of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma. There he met and married Fern Green, his wife of 54 years. He became one of several initial cadre employees of Tinker Air Force Base after completing training at Duncan Field Texas and began his civil service career in April 1942 as a junior aircraft engine mechanic. He continued his service at Tinker for almost 49 years, working numerous jobs and was an active participant in the Suggestion Program. At the time of his death, he was a production controller assigned to the 135 Scheduling Section in the Periodic Depot Maintenance Scheduling Unit in Aircraft Division. He was active in lobbying for legislation regarding the elderly. A member of Northwest Christian Church, he spent his life in service to friends, family and strangers. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Lynn Hays, and will be deeply missed by his wife, Fern Hays of the home; his daughter, Kathy A. Hays of Tulsa; his son, John D. Hays of Albuquerque; his brother, Louis W. Hays and his wife, of Fort Smith; his sister, Freda Hays Barnett and her husband, of Van Buren; his brother, Emmett LeRoy Hays and his wife of San Francisco; nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be 10:30 a.m. May 2, 1991, Guardian West Chapel, 5820 N.W. 41, 495-9292. Interment will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Northwest Expressway and County Line Road.
