Services for Lottie O'deal Kay Pharris will be held at 3 pm on Friday, January 21, 2011 at Blanchard-St Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches with Dr. Larry William, Senior Adult Miister for Broadmoor Baptist Church officiating.
Mrs. Pharris, age 94, entered into peacful rent on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in Shreveport. She was born in Provencal on Independence Day, July 4, 1916.
She worked at the Post Office in Robeline for nine years and married the love of her life, Kermit W. Pharris, Sr., who preceded her in death in 2009 after 73 years of marriage.
After Kermit's return from World War II they moved to Nathcitoches where she worked at the Post Office for 27 years at Northwestern until her retirement in 1976 when her first grandchild was born. She retired with more than one year of sick leave which was recognized by the U.S.Postal Service as "an excellent example of your dedication."
She and Kermit moved to Shreveport in 1980 where they became active members of Broadmoor Baptist Church. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and active for many years.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lottie Cobb Kay and Pinkney Grant Kay, by brothers, Johnny, Raymond and Rufus Kay; and by sisters, Minnie Kay Hanley, exie Kay Welch, Lillie K. Winstead, Hattie K. Rhodes, Lettie Kay Gancy, and Safronia Kay Flores.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Alexis Pharris Scott and husband Charles of Shreveport, he son Kermit W. Pharris, Jr. and wife cheryl of Alexandria; grandchildren Rex Scott and wife Meredith of Shreveport, Kelly Scott Padgett and husband Robert of shreveport, Paul A. Pharris and wife Lily of Raleigh, North Carolinia, and Lindsey Kay Pharris of Alexandria; great grandchildren, Jackson Padgett, Joshua Scott, Noah Scott, Eli Scott, and Oliver Padgett.
She is also survived by her brother James Kay of Provencal, sisters Letha Lee K. Schlaf of Sommers, Connecticut, and Beatric K. Dixon of Natchitoches...
