Thomas Lee Hubbard, age 56, of York, died Monday, January 30, 2012 at the Veterans's Hospital in Grand Island. Thomas was born, the youngest of five children, on June 17, 1955 at Welch, W. Va. to Henry L. and Virgie J. (Jackson) Hubbard Jr.
Because he was the youngest of five, he had a special place in everyone's heart.
He loved his nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews and was always considered their special uncle.
Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Holly (Donald) Cox of Hazel Green, Wis., brother, Gerald (Connie) Hubbard of York and sister, Ginny (Doug) Driewer of Bradshaw.
His favorite interests included playing guitar, rock hunting, visiting Civil War sites and collecting American Indian artifacts because of his heritage. And of course he was an avid Husker fan and enjoyed going to games with his family. Tom was also an accomplished artist in many mediums.
Nieces and nephews include: Kelly Piper, Jeffrey (Shelly) Hubbard, Crystal (Brandon) Osentowski, Chandra (Matthew) Nunnenkamp, Quincy (Erica) Hubbard, Bryan Driewer, Kerri (David) Cavlovic, LaShelle (Mike) Zimmer and Angie (John) Hild and 17 great nieces and nephews. Also surviving are dear friends Sheila Baldwin of York and Barry O'Brien from Mississippi.
Preceding him in death were parents, brother, James E. Hubbard, nephew, Todd Hubbard and niece, Shannon (Hubbard) Blum.
Military graveside services were at the Greenwood Cemetery, York, NE.
