Alva Charles Harrison, 68, of N. Madison Avenue, Richmond, died Thursday, February 2, 2012 at his home.
He was born on July 17, 1943, in Berea, Kentucky, to the late William M. and Mary Jane Lovett Harrison. He was a retired carpenter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Taulbee Harrison and three brothers, Lloyd, Herbert, and John Deland Harrison.
Mr. Harrison is survived by five sons, Alva Charles Harrison II of Richmond, Herbert Wayne Harrison of Ford, Ky., Lloyd Douglas Harrison, Christopher Clark Harrison and Larry Dean Harrison, all of Richmond; three brothers, William McKinley Harrison Jr., Gilbert Lee Harrison and Albert Harrison; four sisters, Margaret and Ruth Smallwood, Mary Helen Gregory and Martha Jane Conn.
He also leaves his grandchildren, Alva, Jr., Jonathan, Carrie, Hannah, Miriah, Christopher and Hallie, as well as one great granddaughter, Haylee. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Oldham, Roberts & Powell Funeral Home, with Rev. Bill Fort officiating. Burial will follow at Pilot Knob Cemetery. Visitation until service time on Sunday.
