SAMUEL BAKER DIES SATURDAY
Woodwork Contractor Had Lived Here 28 Years
Samuel W. Baker, 84, well known woodwork contractor, died at 12:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at his home, 4243 St. Paul Ave, following a lingering illness which kept him confined to his bed the last six weeks. Mr. Baker had not been in good health for the past two years.
Mr. Baker and all of his six sons were charter members of the Brotherhood of American Yeomen, Lincoln Lodge No. 1259. For twenty-two years, Mr. Baker served in the national guard. Five of his sons have seen foreign service.
Born in Missouri in 1847, Mr. Baker moved to Lincoln 28 years ago and was in business here until he retired.
Surviving are his wife, Mary E.; one daughter, Mrs. Lulu Underwood of Bedford, LA; six sons, Albert L., Bert R., Samuel R., James D., and Thomas R., all of Lincoln, and Benjamin Baker of Nodaway, Iowa; twenty-seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

Baker, Samuel W. Funeral services for Mr. Baker will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at Umberger's chapel with John E. Kess in charge. Interment in Wyuka. The pallbearers will be grandsons, James, Layton, Lawrence, Floyd, Harold, and Robert Baker.
