Last Will of Dixon D. Diggs dated 22 Feb 1856. All debts to be paid. To beloved wife Sarah Diggs all the tract of land whereon I now life - at her death to be equally divided between my two sons, Benjamin C. Diggs and William D. Diggs, to them and their heirs forever. Benjamin to have his portion on the Western end and William on the Easter where the houses now stand. To Benjamin C. Diggs, one bed & furniture - the bed that originally belonged to his mother Rachel Diggs, dec'd. All the remaining property not disposed of to be distribted by my Executor as he thinks will be the most beneficial to my family. My executor is to collect the debts of my mother Nancy Diggs, dec'd, when they are due and pay over to the legacies in the manner I should have done. Friend William H. Cox to be sole Executor.

In 1850, there were two other children - Nancy, 4 and John W., 1. His mother Nancy was living with them.
