Eugene Woodrow Holman, age 87, of Harrison, died Thursday, July 23, 2009, in Harrison. He was born January 22, 1922, in Harrison, the son of Rack and Mattie Pearl (Young) Holman. Mr. Holman was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, Matthew David Holman.
Eugene was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church. He was a Master Sgt. 354 Fighter Group, 8th Air Force Group, in World War II. He graduated with a business degree from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma.Eugene was the general manager at Miller Hardware for over forty years.
Eugene Woodrow Holman is survived by his loving wife, Belva Mae (Parnell) Holman, of Harrison; his sons and daughters-in-law, David G. and Rita Holman of North Little Rock, Arkansas, Donald P. and Ruthie Holman of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Douglas C. Holman of Centreville, Maryland; her daughter, Peggy S. Thompson, of Harrison; six grandchildren, Charlie Holman, Peter Holman, Tom Holman, Justin Thompson, Emily Holman and Jenny Thompson; and two great-grandchildren, Max Holman and Windsor Holman.
Eugene is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Cloteen B. and Kirby Cowan, of Harrison; his nephew, Joe Cowan, of Little Rock, Arkansas; and a host of other family and friends throughout the community.
Dr. David Artman will officiate the funeral service.
Pallbearers are Charlie Holman, Peter Holman, Tom Holman, Justin Thompson, Joe Cowan and Merredith Miller.
Honorary pallbearers are Wooly Woolston, Joe Miller, Leon Young, Kirby Cowan, Eddie Young, the Wednesday Morning Men's Group of First Christian Church and the current and former employees of Miller Hardware.
