In 1920, Ray and family were living with father-in-law Elisha Harrison in Chester, Crawford Co, AR.

I haven't been able to find Ray in 1930. When his wife Mary Harrison died in 1929, the funeral records stated they were separated and he wasn't listed as a survivor in her obituary.

Ray Weymouth Adamson applied for his Social Security on 25 Oct 1937. He gave his address as 526 Maple Ave; Los Angeles, Calif. He was at that time unemployed. He did give his birth as 12 May 1884 in Pierce City, MO. Instead of filling in the date for employment begun after 24 Nov 1936, he listed "Religious Loyola Univ". His signature is on the application.
There is still a Loyola Marymount University in downtown Los Angeles.

Voter Registration lists in California have the following that I believe could be this man.
1940, Los Angeles City Precinct 1165
Ray W. Adamson, 1250 N. Main St. - there were many listed at this address, maybe as many as 350 persons, perhaps it was a large hotel as they seemed to be all single men and only a handful of people in this Precinct had a different address. He was a structural engineer, a Democrat.
1942, Los Angeles City Precinct 1169
Ray W. Adamson, 1214 Barry Ave, structural engineer, a Democrat. There were five single men who gave their address as 1214 Barry, other people lived in what appeared to be multiple-family dwellings on Barry Ave. A Lein Foye, lived at 1231 Barry Ave and listed as "apartment manger".

Ray Adamson and Olive Leah Newlan married circa 1943. She was born Nov. 1891, died 1971 and was the daughter of William & Jemima Newlan of Montgomery Co IN. She may have been married as many as four times. Her first husband was Fred Fitch York by whom she had a son Charles E., born 1917, and a daughter, Virginia M., born 1919. Ray Adamson was probably the third husband. She married again in 1865, Humboldt County, to John Stacy Harbin who died in October of 1967. When Harbin died his obituary named the two York children and also two children with the surname of Roberts - perhaps Olive's second was a Roberts. I have not found Olive & her children in the 1930 census. I did find her family in Montgomery Co IN:

Death Certificate received from California reveals that Ray died in the Mendocino State Hospital. He had manic depressive psychosis, depressed type and it's possible he'd been hospitalized more than seven years based on the information given. His birth date is given as 12 May 1884; death date as 22 Nov 1958, age 74. His father's first name is wrong - given as Earl instead of Enoch. His mother's maiden name given as Arnold rather than Harmon. They were both born in Indiana. Ray's last job was as a night watchman and his spouse's name was Olive. [Obviously he remarried.] He had been in CA for 34 years [since 1924]; his address prior to living at the Hospital was 314 C St., Rio Dell, Humboldt Co, CA. He must have broken his hip, then lapsed into pneumonia from which he died as cause of death and duration of illness is listed as: fracture, head of left femur, 3 weeks; broncho-pneumonia, both lungs, 2 weeks; congestive heart failure with myocardial infarction, unknown. There was an autopsy. He was buried in Rohnerville Cemetery, Rohnerville, Humboldt Co, CA under the direction of Goble's Funeral Home of Fortuna, CA.
