Find A Grave Memorial# 68710517
Issac Burleson was the founder of the line of which resulted in most of the Burlesons of Stanly County. He was in the Revolutionary War under Captain Charles Polk's company. He is buried in the Ruben Springer Burial Ground, off of Dusty Road,Oakboro, North Carolina. He is the father of Rachel Jane Burleson, my GGG Grandmother who married William Castle. Family has placed a Memorial stone.
There is also a Rev War stone in a cemetery called Burleson Cemetery, Ballplay, Monroe Co, TN for an Isaac Burleson, Pvt. NC Militia, Rev War. b. 7 Oct 1759, d. 18 Sep 1846. Find A Grave Memorial# 67319396.
He left a will in that county:
Monroe Co. Wills Book A, pg 64
One half of farm to wife Polly and one half to son Isaac M.H. Burleson. To dau. Octavy O. the farm where Jesse Coleman lives, and some personal property. To dau. Charlotte farms where Zachariah and James Johnson formerly lived, to son William one half of farm where Sam'l Smalling lives. To son John R.D. the other half of said farm. To son Vanburen land where Edwin White lives. Exec. Holloway Giles. Wits: Arch McCray and Hugh P. Holland. Executed 8/1/1846.
There is apparently a headstone for a Mary C. Burleson, said to be Mary Coleman wife of this Isaac. The stone has wife of Isaac Sr. with these dates - b. 5 May 1779, d. 9 Jun 1865 - and a note claiming that this is the wife of this Isaac and the dates should have been about 1810 - 1890 - obviously two very different ladies are confused. Perhaps two generations of Isaacs married ladies name Mary.
