Edmund was a Private, Union, 89th Regiment, Illinois Infantry,Co G from Henry County, Illinoi, The Illinois archives states he was a deserter, however, he was in a hospital in Louisville, Kentucky when his Company departed. He was left behind and put in a different company when he was released from the hospital. 80% of the men in his old company died in the confederate prison camp in Andersonville, Georgia.

Married first, Lovina Rebecca Thurman, 9 Nov 1848, Knox Co, IL - married by Jacob Knightlinger, JP. She was another daughter of John Allen Thurman and Alice, or Elsa, Bailes. Lovina was born 11 Mar 1826, Richland Co, OH; died 26 Apr 1850, Keokuk Co, Iowa.
Edmund married second to Rebecca Blacker, 28 Dec 1851, Keokuk Co, Iowa. Rebecca was the daughter of Robert M. Blacker and Anna A. Abraham. She was born 3 Aug 1828 in Ohio, died 29 Jul 1900, Chester, Major Co, OK
He married a third time to Helen Watson, 19 Feb 1903, Blaine, Oklahoma.

He is buried Chester Cemetery, Major Co, OK, with second wife Rebecca.
