John Lawrence

(Ca 1525 - 2 Jan 1610/11)

John Lawrence was of Fressingfield. John Burward bequeathed lands in Bredfield, Bouze and Hacheston, all in Suffolk to John - the relationship is unknown.

John acquired land in Fressingfield in 1582 and bought from Michael Wentworth, the lordship of the manor of Fressingfield Hall in 1589 - he gave it to his son James in his lifetime.

John's will is dated 18 Sep 1609, proved 11 Jan 1610/1, mentioning only his youngest son Nathaniel, to whom he gave all lands and tenements in Fressingfield, as well as all the rest and residue of goods and chattels; Nathaniel to be sole executer. The surviving children of his first marriage are identified with only the surnames of the married daughters in a charter dated 2 Feb 1604/5, cited in the inquisition post mortem held 3 Aug 1613.
