William was a 1st Lt. in the Artillery. He was wounded in Germany, 19 Oct 1944, and received the Purple Heart. In 1948, when the Comstock book was compiled, he was living in St. Joseph, MI.

William is buried Evergreen Cemetery, Alpena, Michigan, although he died in Florida. His wife, MaryAnne Holaday Comstock, is also buried there. She was born 26 Apr 1920 in St. Louis, died 23 Sep 1980, Crystal River, Citrus Co, Florida.
