Elias Harmon
(1780 - 1856)
Elias lived on the family farm, Holly Brook. He married Polly Davis and their home was used as a place of worship for the Methodist Church members. Elias was Capt of Militia in Tazewell Co.
Giles Co, WB A, p.417, lists his slaves who were freed.

William Neal Harman has a bio in the book, History of Bland County (Virgina); Bland Co Centennial Corporation, p.142
He was born 11 Dec 1822 at Hollybrook, - later Bland Co. He attended university and became a teacher in Kentucky. He served as private secretary to Gen. Sam Houston in San Augustine, TX and was a professor of mathematics at Wesleyan, being elected president of the college. When his health declined he returned to Virginia and was admitted to the bar 12 May 1856, and followed that profession.
William served as Orderly Sergeant of Co F, 45th Virginia Infantry. He served throughout the War and promoted to Col. He commanded Co F "Bland Rangers".
He died at Bonanza, Sebastian Co., AR, 30 Jul 1905.
