John married Elizabeth Depea [Dupuy??] circa 1789.
When John sold 150 acres to Jeremiah Ellington and 180 acres to Jesse Law 16 January 1792, the deeds described the tracts as part of 330 acres that Joseph Motley had given his son John Motley. Motley deeded about 340 acres on Shockoe to Thomas Tanner 15 August 1791, and bought back the 180-tract from Ellington 15 October 1791.
