According to family stories, John got into a fight, left Casey Co, and was never heard from again.

In 1900, there were a lot of John Porters, and John R. Porters, but I did find a John R. Porter, born Jan 1870, the only one born in Jan of 1870 or 1871. I doubt that he could be John Raymond. He was living in Bannack Twp, Beaverhead Co, Montana and claimed he was born in Utah, Jan of 1870, as were his parents [which would be very doubtful, although if true eliminates him as a candidate]. He was working as a Day Laborer. He had a wife Ollie, b. Dec 1881 - they had recently married and there were no children. Her place of birth and her parents also said to be Utah.

In 1910, he still seemed to be in Beaverhead Co, Montana ..now age 38, married for 10 years and said born in Iowa, parents b. Virginia. He was a Merchant, a Saloon. Allie [or Ollie] B. was age 27, had two children - b. Missouri, parents born MO.
Richard A., son was 9, Rosa B., a daughte, was 7.
