Individual Details
Matthew B. Huff
(1809 - 1861)
The parentage of Mathew is questionable. He appears to have been raised by Fanny Thompson Huff, but whether or not he was actually a son of John Huff, who deserted his first family is more than questionable. It is said that his parents separated about 1802 - although John Huff was still living alone in 1810. Some think he might even have been a grandchild of Frances, the child of her eldest daughter, Sarah. Y-DNA tests of any male Huff, descended from John, to include Mathew, might provide a partial answer to this problem. One descendant of Mathew has been tested but his lineage not examined - he doesn't match the descendants of Derrick Hoff of New Jersey.
Joshua G. Mabry was bondsman for the marriage of Mathew Huff to Theodota Day, 1 Feb 1827. John Cock was a witness - likely a relative of Theodota's mother.
