Levi Comstock was born about 1730 in Lyme, CT, to John Comstock and Mary Colt. John and Mary were married about 1712 in Lyme; she was the daughter of John Colt and Sarah Lord. The will of Lt. John Comstock, gentleman of Lyme, CT, dated 8 Jan 1747-48, and whose executors were wife Mary and son, John, made bequests to:

dau: Esther bc 1724, d 5 May 1807 at age 82 at Millington, CT, wife of John Willey (1732-1805) John Willey is listed in the DAR Patriot Index. He was the son of Allen Willey and Mehitabel Richardson.

Of the three children listed to this couple, Christopher Jr. died in the West Indies on 26 Jan. 1773 and although the record does not say exactly where, Pitcarn is a likely possibility as this name was given to one of Levi's children.
3)Jabez d 10 October 1807

Although not listed in the will, but acting as co-executor, John Comstock was born 5 July 1714 and died in 1757; his wife, Martha.

Levi Comstock is the least recorded of the above children. However, he seemed to have a close association with David Cook of Wallingford, CT. David Cook owned several ships and there is little doubt about his wealth. Cook was largely engaged in commerce, sailing from the port of New Haven one ship and three brigs. In religion he was a zealous friend of the Church of England. In about 1755 or a little later, Levi testified in a court case that named David Cook as the defendant, regarding a sailor who had been wrongly sold as a slave, although he was a free man from the Indies. In Masonic records, there is a notice posting by Levi Comstock announcing a Masonic meeting at David Cook's house that dates to the 1770's. (Source: History of Wallingford) The possibility of Levi being a sailor on one of David Cook's ships is strong, inasmuch as one of his sons was named Pitcarn, probably after the island also named.
