In 1900, young Calvin was in South Dakota, Pear Creek, Beadle County, still single, as a "servant" in the home of Geo. W. Alley, b. Aug 1861, who certainly must be kin [perhaps to his mother] because George was also born in Wisconsin, parents born in Canada and had a four-year-old daughter named Electa....  George's wife was Kittie, b. May 1871 in NY.

Yes, the young Calvin was my grandfather. He was working ranches in Oklahoma, then in South Dakota where he met his future wife, Isabel Waldron, near Huron, SD and they homesteaded near Bowman, ND in 1902 where my father, Walter, was born in 1910. Then in the flu epidemic of 1918, my grandmother Isabel (Waldron) died and my grandfather with all the kids (8) moved in 1919 to Clam Falls, Polk Co, WI.

The North Dakota State Census for 1915, has the family in Grand River, Bowman Co.
then in 1920, Calvin is widowed and living in Clam Falls, Polk Co, WI with his 7 children, some born in South Dakota, some in ND.
