Byron apparently had a twin sister Flora - they are listed as one-year-olds in the 1875 Kansas State Census. She must have died prior to the 1880 census when she no longer appears with the family. His birthdate found in the Social Secuity records.
Interestingly he was listed in the City Directory with hie son Grover and brother Byron

In 1920, Byron was living with his wife Myrtle in Kansas City, Ward 2; the previous census, 1910, he had been living at home with his mother. Byron and Myrtle lived at 1640 Pennsylvania Ave. Byron was age 45, Myrtle, 35. Myrtle was born in Iowa. Byron was a Cigar Dealer. I believe there were no children.
In 1930 - Myrtle was a widow (she wasn't) running a boarding house. She was living on the Kansas city of the in Wyandotte County. She had six male boarders.

He was working as a night watchman for Laurie Paving Co. His parents were Americus McKim and Mary Ann Tilton, both born Ohio. The informant was Daisy Ross, sister, of 3224 Agnes Street, Kansas City. Byron was Cremated, Olivet Memorial Park. Charges totaled $187.69.
