Doubful connection.
There is a tradition that John sent his seven sons to America. They are said to have sailed on the "Charlotte" to Philadelphia, January of 1726. I have not yet found any trace of such a ship, nor any passenger list. Certainly several Harmon males were in Pennsylvania, Philadelphia and Berks Counties.
According to the most oft told story, it is unknown exactly when the Hermann brothers left Germany. They may have stayed for awhile in The Netherlands as did many of the Palatinate Germans; they may also have been for some time on the Isle of Man. Genealogies of the son Heinrich, who became Adam in this country, had a son born in Germany in 1724, a son said born in 1726 on the Isle of Man, and subsequent children born in Pennsylvania. I have no clue how much of this is accurate.
One of the long-time Harmon researchers has come to the conclusion that certainly Adam, Jacob, Mathias, and Valentine who settled in the New River area of western Virginia, were brothers, but selecting this man as their father is not likely.
