Armstead is buried in the Flynn Cemetary, Bloomfield, Greene Co, IN. His birth given as 7 Apr 1823, death 26 Jul 1897. An obituary exists. He married there on 4 Jul 1844 to Angeline Lewis. Armstead's wife is also buried Flynn Cemetery as, Eliza Emmaline Baker Flynn, b. 11 Dec 1830, d. 26 Dec 1912. Eliza's obituary does say they married about 1850, so she must have been a second wife.

I did not find Armstead in the 1850 census.

His obituary published in The Bloomfield News, 20 Aug 1897, said he was born in North Carolina, came with his parents to Indiana where he was married to Eliza Baker. They had eight children, two have passed on. He was still in Center township residing near Hobbieville. Although Eliza lived until 1912, the six children were still living - Janittia King of Colorado, Celia Floyd of Bloomfield, Emma Boruff, Sarah Johnson, and James Flynn all of Lyons, and T. P. Flynn of Sullivan Illinois. Eliza was the daughter of Robert & Sarah Baker, born in Tennessee, 11 Dec 1830, and died at the home of her son James. She had 7 brothers, 2 sisters, only two brothers and a sister survived her - Kiram Baker of Koleen, Novel Baker of Elnora, and Mrs. Jane Hardesty of Koleen. Eliza left 46 grandchildren and about 20 great, grandchildren.
