The Poindexter book has given this Ann Scott the marriages that seem to have belonged to the Ann Scott, daughter of Leonard & Nancy Butts Martin Scott.

The Poindexter book, p.357, offers some confusion about the parentage and marriages of Ann Radford Scott. It does, in fact, give marriage dates only a month apart. The North Carolina Marriage Bonds database at Ancestry.com has no date for either marriage. But they are listed, both in Stokes Co. The first is Bennit Apperson to Nancy Scott, William Vest, bondsman. Next is Samuel Hauser to Nancy Apperson, F. P. Pettitt, bondsman. That alone would leave little doubt as to her maiden name, Scott, nor to the fact that she remarried as a young widow. Both Vests and Pettitts are otherwise intermarried with the Poindexter family. A marriage index CD for North Carolina, lists a marriage for Bennit Apperson and Nancy Scott in Stokes Co, 30 Oct 1820, not 1824. This date works well with the birth of their son William Pearson Apperson, 5 Sep 1821. Certainly the marriage to Hauser took place at the later date.

William Pearson Apperson married Mary Katherine Edwards.
