This applicant states that he was born in Spotsylvania County, Virginia, in the year 1742." etc. Application was made in Claiborne Co TN on 20 Sep 1833 - he had moved to Tennessee following the War. Major served from Caswell Co NC.
Major Lea was designated to receive the home plantation after the death of his mother - this is often the heritage of the youngest son.
There is a marriage bond for Major Lea to Salley Farley, 29 Aug 1790, in Caswell Co NC. This may not have been a first marriage. Other sources state that Major Lee married his cousin Elizabeth Herndon, daughter of Richard Herndon.
Major is said to have named his eldest son, Herndon Lea. There is a bond:
