Marriage bond from Rockbridge Co VA. Samuel Dale to marry Isabella Lawson, daughter of Robert Lawson. Robert Lawson gave permission. James Lawson swore that his sister Isabella, was over age 21. 23 Feb 1793

Samuel "Deal" married Isabella Lawson 28 Feb 1793, Rockbridge Co. The minister was Rev. Wm. Graham. Rev. Graham also officiated at the marriage of David Lawson adding credence to David being a brother of Isabella and James. Rev. Graham also performed the wedding of Robert Lawson to Mary McCampbell.

Isabella signed a receipt that she had received her dower claim of one third from her son Alexander Dale, the administrator of her husband Samuel Dale, deceased. So she was still living in 1833; her handwriting was very clear if a little shaky.

If this birth year is correct, she was born 1856 - that seems most unlikely given the ages of her children. Ages of the elderly were often exaggerated.
Living with her was Isabella Dale, age 40, a daughter. Isabella Lawson, age 28 - I suspect she was the daughter of Rebecca Dale & Andrew K. Lawson - and Samuel Dale, age 6, son of Alexander and Martha Dale.
Alexander and Martha were next door.
