Samuel Sherman of Dedham, clothier, made out his will 14 Jun 1643 and it was proved 12 Dec 1644. Names wife Ester [Hester Burges]. After her decease son Samuel to have their home. Names also sons Edmond, Bezaliel, John, and Nathaniel and daughters Ester, Anna, and Deborah [she was under age 19]. He named his brothers as Dr. Burges and John Sherman. Cousin [nephew] Richard Sherman, Samuel my brother John Sherman's son and Mary my brother John's daughter. "Cousin" John Angier. Gift of 20#'s to brother Benjamin's children. To sister Warner's son Samuel [his sister Sarah married Thomas Warer]. To sister Backler [his sister Hanna/Anna married Richard Backler. To sister Bacon in New England [sister Mary married Andrew Bacon] To sister Sherman, Edmond's widow and gifts to her sons Samuel & John and her daughters, Grace and Ester Ward and the youngest daughter. This Edmond was his older half brother. He gave the task of giving the legacies in New England - to sister Bacon & Edmond's family - to his cousin Edmund Sherman who had been in Watertown MA and later returned to England. He did business and correspondence in New England and could handle this task. He was also a son of Edmond and actually Samuel's nephew. Samuel Sherman also named his brother Richard Sherman and Richard's son Samuel and daughter Alice [Richard was a half-brother]. There were legacies to loving brother Dr. Burges and his sons Samuel, Nathaniel and Daniel, and to loving sister Nash, and brothers John and James Burges. Wife Ester and son Samuel to be executors.

That Hester Burgess was the wife of this Samuel is made clear by the will of Robert Burges of Stanton Drew, Somerset, dated 17 Nov 1626 and proved 14 Dec 1626. He gave a gift to two children of his daughter Hester Sherman. He also named sons James and John and a son-in-law James Nash.

Ester Sherman of Dedham, widow, wrote her will dated 14 Aug 1646 and proved on 3 Sep. She named son John. Brothers Cornelius, John and James Burges. Brothers John Sherman and Benjamin Sherman. Sons Edmond, Beza and Nathaniel. Daughters Hester, Hannah and Deborah. Richard Sherman of New England.
