Absolom\Abner Mabry

Absolom married Frances Manning on 12 Feb 1846 in Floyd Co VA. Said to be the daughter of William O. and Elizabeth (Keith) Manning.
He is found on the Personal Property Tax Rolls in Floyd Co from 1847-1849 with 1 tithe and 1 horse. He was listed as Absalom.
1850 Census, Carroll Co. Household 279. Absolum Maybry, age 26, Miller. Frances 22 and John A. age 2.
The Mabry book gives his name as Absolom or Abner, but in the 1860 census he was named as Abraham Maybery, age 36, carpenter. Frances was 32. Children were John A., age 12, Eveline 6, Amanda 3, and Valeria age 10 months. Ruthie Manning age 22 was living with the family and doing day labor [probably a relative of Frances].
In the Carroll Co Death Records for 1860: Mabry, female, died 19 Dec 1860, croup, age 2 years. Parents: Absolom Mabry. This would surely be the 10-month-old Valeria.
In 1870, the son John A. was in Pine Creek District of Carroll Co. He was a house carpenter. Martha C. age 19, keeping house. Children: Viola S. 3 and John 1.

1880 Census. Absolom was living in Pine Creek District, a carpenter, age 56. Frances now 52. Still at home were daughters Amanda E. age 22, Martha Ann age 15, and Lucinda El. age 11.
In 1880 John A. was 32, carpenter. Martha C. now "26" - her parents were both given as born in NC. Viola L. age 14, John W. 11, Stephen L. 8, Amanda L. 6, Franklin B 4, and Fredrick age 2.
John A. Mabry is listed as a Carroll Co Civil War Pensioner for years 1917-1925 - in 1925 is the note [Funeral-$25]
