I did find the family in 1880 in Bates Co MO. It's interesting that Jesse gave his place of birth as "West Virginia" which is what my great, great grandmother stated about her place of birth. They weren't born in "West" Virginia, but certainly they were born in western Virginia. The first child born in Missouri was Alice, born 1874.
