[Speculation: In 1850 Census, Willis' father is listed as William; Willis is not in household. There is a William "Pepin" of the correct age (25) married to a Nancy age 20 with daughter Sarah, age 1. Is there a possibility of an earlier marriage and this is the same person? It is not Wilson Pippin who married his cousin Nancy Pippin because he's enumerated separately.]
In 1860, 1870 the family was in Jackson Co.
Woodfolk Pipin, age 35. Lanora age 35.
Emm age 3. Letta, age 6 months.
In 1880 they were counted in Putnam Co.
7 Sep 1861, Willis enlisted in Company B, 28th TN Infantry at Camp Zollicoffer. His record for Feb 1863 shows he was absent and sick. In Mar 1863 he was in Company K, 18th [Consolidated] TN Infantry, Confederate.
Willis & Lanora had 10 children. He is buried in the Boliver Pippin Cemetery in Putnam Co.
One of the sons was Joe Put Pippin, born 27 Jan 1871 and died 20 Jun 1951 in Putnam Co. He was listed as married and having died of Organic heart disease. Bobbie Pippin gave the information for his certificate. He was 80 and had lived 80 years in this place. Father given as Wood F. Pippin, mother as Nora Finn. He was buried Pippin Cemetery in Putnam Co.
Another son was John Forrest Pippin, b. 27 Sep 1868, died 24 Oct 1923. He married Icy Dora Matheney, daughter of Anderson Matheney and Elizabeth Byers. Icy was born 28 Dec 1871 and died 8 Jan 1947. She died of pneumonia and was buried in the Pippin GraveYard.
