George Washington McAdams
(25 Dec 1815 - 2 Aug 1889)
Married by Reverend Henry W. Hughes.
In 1832, George went to Portland KY (Louisville) and went to work for Eugene Perrot, one of the early French settlers at the Falls of the Ohio. While working on the river trade, he became familiar with Hawesville and soon moved there. His brother Samuel and also settled there. George dealt in real estate and buying tobacco and about the time of Civil War owned several large coal mines. The War, debts, tobacco market collapse, wiped out his fortune and he spent the last few years at the home of his son, Eugene P. McAdams.
