Timothy Stamps

( - Bef Sep 1728)

Early records of Timothy are found in Lancaster Co. In 1728 he received an 800 acres grant on the fork of the Rappahannock River and received an additional 400 acres on 28 Sep 1728. Deed Books of Orange Co mention land in the fork of the Rappahannock, corner to Widow Stamps in 1735, 1736 and 1739.

Land Patents in CAVALIERS & PIONEERS, Vol. III:

Although the 400 acres was patented on 18 Sep 1728, Timothy may have been already deceased, given that several of the above mention the Widow Stamps. It is highly doubtful this could have been his mother since his father had been death some 30 years. No doubt he had applied for the patent before his death. Spotsylvania Co was formed 1721, Orange from Spotsylvania in 1734.

Inventory of his estate filed in 1731. [This may be in the records of King George Co as that's where the Stamps database had his place of death.]
