Individual Details
Jesse Sinclair Montford
(1830 - 30 Oct 1910)
Union Cemetery, Jefferson Co, FL
Jesse Sinclair Montford is buried well to the right, and about halfway back. His grave is marked by an Obelisk which has Carolina Virginia (Holderness) Montford's memorial facing the street, and Jesse (spelled Jessie) Sinclair Montford's facing away from the street.
One of their daughters, Frances Virginia Montford married Dr. William Archibald Monroe. Their graves are next to the Jesse and Carolina Montford obelisk, but are totally unmarked. They were identified by Dorothy Stringer Dekle (granddaughter of Dr. Monroe) prior to her death in the early 1990's. Also of note, Carolina Virginia Holderness Montford's mother, Elizabeth Polly Bryan Holderness, died at her daughter and son-in-law's home in 1873. However, her grave is either unmarked, or in the part of the cemetery across the street. Her husband, James Holderness died in 1860 in Leon/Jefferson County, Florida. His grave is also either unmarked or across the street in the other part of the cemetery.
