Eleazar was listed as living with with his father and stepmother in the 1850 Census. Occupation: Cooper, as were his half-brothers' Harvey and Ira.

This does not seem to be this Eleazer, but it does not seem to be a common name. Perhaps the marriage didn't work out, or she died soon after.

Roster of Company B, 119th Regt, of the Union Army included:
Eleazer D. Irwin, Private, died at Buntyn Station, 3 Apr 1863. [Note: there was a Buntyn train station in Memphis. During the Civil War, the Memphis & Charleston Railroad line was the most strategic and fought over transportation and supply lines in the South.]
His brother Harvey was listed as a recruit in Company C, 199th Regt.

Robert Irwin was appointed administrator of the estate of Eleazer D. Irwin on 31 July 1863. Ira Irwin co-signed the security bond in the amount of $100 on the same day.

A note filed in Schuyler County on 31 July 1863, says that Robert Irwin swears that Eleazer D. Irwin of said county is dead, that he died on or about the 11th day of April 1863, that he left (money) or property to the amount of 52¢ & left no widow or children. Signed with his mark. Witnessed by D____ C. Johnston, who may have been the Clerk of the Court.
