Funeral services for Amos H. Jones, late of 218 East 2nd Street, were held Monday afternoon, Feb. 16th, at 2:00 in the Holt Chapel. Rev. C. E. Hoover of the First Baptist church, officiated.
A quartette composed of Paul Strickland, Avery Watkins, Lloyd Wilson and Bill Holt, accompanied by Mrs. Avery Watkins at the organ, sang "Rock of Ages" and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Mr. Jones passed away in a Canon City hospital Thursday, Feb. 12, at 6:30 p.m. following a severe heart attack suffered Feb. 7th at his home in Florence.
He was born June 7th, 1870, in Shoalcreek, Mo., and came to Florence 29 years ago from Granby, Mo. He was 77 years of age, a member of the Baptist church and a former member of the W.O.W. lodge. He was the last of a family of eleven children to pass away.
On June 7, 1898, he married Addie Church at Westpoint, Arkansas. She survives as do five children: Mrs. Flo Elmore of Florence, Loy Jones of Florence, Herschal Jones of South Gate, Calif., Mrs. Annabelle O'Neill of South Gate, Calif., and Neuman Jones of Florence. Also surviving are three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were John Camerlo, John DeAngelo, Griff Morganstein, Dan Brator, Huey Young and Ben Becknell.
Flowers were in charge of Wanda Ham, Polly Cloypton, Dixie Beth, Earline Hines, Thelma Berta, Mary Brator, Sarah Morganstein and Frances Perrino.
Interment was made in Union Highland cemetery under direction of the Holt Mortuary.
